Matching cameras on this project has been a little more difficult than what I’m used to. On previous projects, I used a cube to align the camera. However, this time we did not shoot a cube. Luckily the island in the kitchen has right angles and precise dimensions that can be used instead.
On our second shot, even with accurate proxy geometry, I was having a hard time matching the perspective. Only two corners of the preferred seven were visible, and the fact that our tripod was not perfectly level added another dimension of difficulty.
I resorted to using KeenTools’ pin tool for the first time. The tool allows the user to place pins on the geometry and precisely align each corner. A camera can then exported from that node that matches the scene perfectly.
