Rider

Rider is a short film I co-created with a core team of four other artists. The team later expanded to include 24 other people. The goal of the film was to showcase team’s diverse set of skills from modeling, to FX, to compositing. I was the compositing lead for the project, which involved working with our other five compositors to ensure a consistent look. I developed a template script for the unique lens effects seen throughout the film. I was also the director of photography on the project which entailed doing most of the camera work and a good amount of shot design. Some of my favorite shots are the extreme telephoto ones for which I also created custom setups in Nuke for mirage and heat distortion.

After many long hours and late nights, the film was completed in five months. We were fortunate to be finalists for the 2024 Rookie Awards Visual Effects Film of the Year.

SCAD x The Mill 2024

In a 10-week mentorship with The Mill, I and a team of four other artists created this mock gelato ad. I was responsible for compositing some of the shots, and some on-set VFX supervision. I had a lot of fun experimenting with new techniques on the project. Namely using some machine learning models inside Nuke to fake lighting and shadows on a live-action plate. I also tackled some tricky logo replacement on our ice cream container with 3D object tracking using KeenTools. Details on all of this can be found on my blog.

SCAD x The Mill 2023

This mock Mercedes ad was the result of a 10-week mentorship with The Mill. I worked with a team of three other artists who specialized in FX, look development, and lighting. I was responsible for lighting the first and last shot, and all of the compositing. The project was a great exercise in compositing full CG. I did a lot of work in comp working with AOVs and lighting passes.
